Phillip Layzell - Australian Artist
Commissioning a painting means getting exactly what you want - guaranteed.
It doest't cost any more than buying an existing painting.
Why get a commission?
When you've got something in mind already, but can't find the painting to match your idea.
• To match colours in your room.
• For a memory of a place.
• For a gift.
The Process
• You contact me with an idea for a painting or a favourite photograph.
You can do this by using the Contact page
• We discuss size, shape, subject, colours, etc.
• I email you a colour sketch for your consideration.
• I make another sketch if you are not happy.
• I start work on the final painting and email you a photo of the finished painting.
• If there are any minor changes you might require, these can be done.
• The final painting is now presented to you.
If you are unhappy with the finished painting you are not obligated to buy it
(thanks to all the preliminary consultations this has never happened).
An Example Commission
A couple contacted me after browsing this website, asking if I could paint a picture for them similar to an existing painting about 40x40cm with a tree to on the right hand side instead of the foliage

They liked the colours so I went ahead with a colour sketch.

Basically they were happy with it but wanted to change the format to 30x40cm. They cropped the sketch and said that this was more like what they wanted.

I felt that the layout of the picture wasn't quite right, so I did another sketch. They were very happy with this so I went ahead with the final painting.

The final painting. They sent me a photograph of the painting hung on their wall together with two other paintings that I had previously painted, creating a very special memory of their trip to the Blue Mountains in Australia.
